Michael Cornfeld is President of Heritage Investors Management Corporation and has over 50 years of experience managing investment portfolios for individuals and institutions. Mr. Cornfeld received a B.A. from Cornell University in 1971 and an M.A. from Columbia University in 1973. He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in 1978 and the Chartered Investment Counselor designation in 1984.

Michael Cornfeld is President of Heritage Investors Management Corporation. Mr. Cornfeld joined Heritage in January 1975 as Vice President of the Corporation. A Director since 1978, Mr. Cornfeld was elected Chairman of the Board in September 1990. He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in 1978 and the Chartered Investment Counselor designation in 1984. Mr. Cornfeld has more than 50 years experience managing equity and fixed income portfolios for high net worth individuals and retirement plans. Mr. Cornfeld received a B.A. in Government from Cornell University in 1971 and an M.A. in Political Science from Columbia University in 1973. His educational concentration was in international economic and political affairs. He has written on the impact of changing political and economic climates upon the operations of multinational corporations, both domestically and abroad. His thesis topic at Columbia was Libyan Oil Policy. Prior to his affiliation with Heritage, Mr. Cornfeld was a member of the Trust Department of The Riggs National Bank of Washington, DC where he was employed as a Portfolio Manager handling Trusts, Estates, and other investment accounts from April, 1973 to December, 1974. Mr. Cornfeld has served as the Treasurer and on the Executive Committee of the Investment Advisers Association, an organization currently comprised of approximately 600 firms that collectively manage approximately $20 trillion in assets for a variety of individual and institutional clients. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Washington, DC, the Washington Association of Money Managers, the Cornell Club of Washington, the Columbia Club of Washington, and the Bethesda Country Club. Mr. Cornfeld is also involved in providing service to his community. He has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Social Service Agency, the Washington Hebrew Congregation, and the Garden of Remembrance Cemetery where he has both chaired and/or served on numerous committees devoted to finance and the management of endowment funds for all of these organizations. His additional activities have included service to Cornell University, where he is a lifetime member of the Cornell Council, and to Columbia University where he has served on the Boards of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the Columbia Alumni Association. Most recently, Mr. Cornfeld joined the Board of the Planet Word Museum and chairs its Audit Committee.

Andrew Schenker, CFA®

Chief Investment Officer

Andrew Schenker joined Heritage in 2016 and has served as Chief Investment Officer since 2021.  Mr. Schenker graduated from Duke University having earned a B.S. in Economics with a second major in Computer Science. He received his MBA from Columbia Business School, where he was also inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society.  Mr. Schenker has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Andrew Schenker joined Heritage Investors Management Corporation in November 2016 as the Director of Research and Portfolio Manager and has served as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) since March 2021. Mr. Schenker graduated from Duke University having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a second major in Computer Science. He received his MBA with a concentration in Finance and Economics from the Columbia University Business School where he was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society.  Mr. Schenker has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. Prior to joining Heritage Investors Management Corporation, Mr. Schenker was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley in the institutional equity research division. Mr. Schenker was a lead Research Analyst covering companies in the Managed Care, Healthcare Provider and Healthcare Services sectors. In recognition of his research, Mr. Schenker was voted a Rising Star of Wall Street in 2013, 2014 and 2015 in the annual Institutional Investor’s poll. Mr. Schenker started his institutional equity research career at Sanford C. Bernstein. Before that, Mr. Schenker worked for the investment management firm Richard L. Hanley Associates and held internships at Oppenheimer Capital (now Allianz Capital), Advent Capital Management, and Gabelli Asset Management. He currently serves on the Investment Committee for the Norwood School as well as on Garden of Remembrance’s Investment committee.

Gayl A. Tjornehoj joined Heritage in August 1980, was appointed as Secretary in December 2005, and has served as Chief Operating Officer since March 2021. Ms. Tjornehoj received an Associates degree in Secretarial Science from Champlain College in 1978, an Associates degree in Computer Science from Montgomery College in 1986, and a B.S. in Business from the University of Maryland in 1996.

Gayl A. Tjornehoj joined Heritage Investors Management Corporation in August 1980, was appointed Secretary of the Corporation in December 2005, and has served as Chief Operating Officer since March 2021. Ms. Tjornehoj received an Associates degree in Secretarial Science from Champlain College in 1978 and an Associates degree in Computer Science from Montgomery College in 1986. In December 1996, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Maryland University College. Ms. Tjornehoj’s community service activities have included serving as Treasurer of her community association for ten years, as a Girl Scout troop leader for Service Unit 32-11 of the Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capital, and as Treasurer for Hope in South Africa Inc.

Executive Vice President

Kenneth J. Long joined Heritage in August 1995 and has served as Executive Vice President since 2021.  Mr. Long graduated cum laude with a B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1990. He earned his CPA license in 1991. In 1995, he received his MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Mr. Long was awarded the CFA® designation in 1998 and is certified as a CIC (2000).

Kenneth J. Long joined Heritage Investors Management Corporation as a Portfolio Manager in August 1995 and was promoted to Vice President in December 2002 and Executive Vice President in March 2021. Mr. Long graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in June 1990, with a B.A. in Economics. In February 1991, he earned his Certified Public Accountant license from the State of Maryland. In May 1995, he received his MBA in Finance from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He was awarded his Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in September 1998 and his Chartered Investment Counselor designation in December 2000. Prior to joining Heritage Investors Management Corporation, Mr. Long was employed from 1990 to 1993 as a CPA and senior auditor for Coopers and Lybrand, now PriceWaterhouse Coopers. He was subsequently employed in the Private Banking Division of Citicorp where he analyzed loan portfolios and evaluated the investment strategies of potential clients. Mr. Long is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Washington, DC, and the Washington Association of Money Managers. He has been active in providing service to the community by organizing benefit races for cancer research for Johns Hopkins Hospital.  He is a member of the Finance Council and the Pastoral Council for St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, a volunteer for Bethesda Cares, a community outreach program for the homeless, a member of the Board of Directors of Mary of Nazareth Catholic School, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the St. John’s College High School.

Christopher Hill joined Heritage Investors Management Corporation in December 2021 as the Compliance Officer and was promoted to Chief Compliance Officer in March 2022. Mr. Hill graduated from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA, with a major in Management in 2000. In 2006, he received his MBA from Loyola University Maryland.

Christopher Hill joined Heritage Investors Management Corporation in December 2021 as the Compliance Officer and was promoted to Chief Compliance Officer in March 2022. As the Chief Compliance Officer, he is responsible for establishing standards and implementing procedures to ensure that the compliance program is effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting, and correcting noncompliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as the firm’s internal policies and supervisory procedures. Mr. Hill graduated from Gettysburg College, having earned a Bachelor or Arts degree in Management with a minor in Economics and where he was a 4-year member of the varsity swim team. He received his MBA with a concentration in General Business from Loyola University Maryland. Prior to joining Heritage Investors Management Corporation, Mr. Hill was the Chief Compliance Officer for Cherry Bekaert Wealth Management, LLC. Prior to that, he held various roles for several investment management firms primarily in the areas of compliance and investment operations. Mr. Hill’s community service activities include serving as an official in the Northern Virginia Swim League and as an assistant baseball coach in Fairfax Little League.

Derek R. Derek R. Stone joined Heritage Investors Management Corporation as a portfolio manager in July 1982 and was promoted to Vice President in July 1992 and Senior Vice President in March 2021. Mr. Stone is a Chartered Investment Counselor and has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Mr. Stone graduated cum laude from Harvard University in June 1980 with a B.A. in Economics, concentrating on macroeconomic policy and international and developmental economics. In May 1982, he received an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Heritage Investors Management Corporation, Mr. Stone worked in the research department of Mocatta Metals Corporation, a major commodities trading house.

Mr. Stone is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Washington, DC, The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, The Washington Association of Money Managers, The Harvard Club of Washington, and the Wharton Club of Washington.

Brian M. Curtin joined Heritage Investors Management Corporation in February 2018 and was promoted to Vice President in 2023.  Mr. Curtin graduated from Cornell University in 2001 and earned a B.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering.  In 2007, he received an MBA specializing in Finance and Quantitative Finance from NYU-Stern.  Prior to joining Heritage, Mr. Curtin worked in equity research at Loomis Sayles.

Brian M. Curtin joined Heritage Investors Management Corporation as a Research Analyst in February 2018 and was promoted to Portfolio Manager in March 2018.  Mr. Curtin graduated from Cornell University in May 2001 earning a B.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering. In May 2007, he received an MBA specializing in Finance and Quantitative Finance from NYU-Stern, where he was an officer of the Association for Investment Management as well as a contributor to the Admission Department’s Torch Committee.

Prior to joining Heritage Investors Management Corporation, Mr. Curtin worked in equity research at Loomis Sayles, where he specialized in the energy industry. After pursuing his MBA, Mr. Curtin worked for ING, where he researched both equities and fixed income investments again focusing on the oil and gas industry, as well as the metals, mining, coal, and industrials sectors. His next role was in fixed income research for Lord Abbett, where he followed metals, mining and industrials companies. Additionally, Mr. Curtin interned at two hedge funds while pursuing his MBA and was employed in an Institutional Equity Sales role for an investment bank.

Mr. Curtin is a member of the Cornell Club of Washington, CFA Society of Washington, and the Washington Association of Money Managers.

Laura L. McAree rejoined Heritage Investors Management Corporation in 2020 and was promoted to Vice President in 2023. Ms. McAree graduated in June 1987 from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics. She was awarded her Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in June 1996 and became a CFP® professional in July 2018.

Laura L. McAree rejoined Heritage Investors Management Corporation as a Portfolio Manager in March 2020. Ms. McAree graduated in June 1987 from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics and a concentration in Finance. She was awarded her Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in June 1996 and became a CFP® professional in July 2018.

Laura McAree has over 20 years of experience as an investment manager. She has worked at numerous financial services firms including Harvard Management Company in Boston, T. Rowe Price, Salomon Smith Barney, Garnet Group, West Financial Services, Inc. and Goldman Sachs.

Laura has served as a board member of the Fox Hills Civic Association, and has participated as an active member of the Parent Teacher Association of Bells Mill Elementary School and as an enthusiastic parent member of the DC National Rowing Club. She is also a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church and a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Washington, DC and the National Capital Area Chapter of the Financial Planning Association.
